2009 brings many changes.
As you may have read in the press release that went out this morning. I’ve stepped down as a SVP of Marketing and Strategy at Brightcove and joined the Brightcove Advisory Board. I had an amazing experience working at Brightcove during the last four years. In a very short time we pioneered the online video platform category, established tremendous market share, and grew revenue by 3x or more year for year for 3 years. I had the privilege of working with an incredibly intelligent and talented group of people, and I’m definitely going to miss working so closely with such a great team. I’m very lucky to have a colleague from Allaire and Macromedia, Jeff Whatcott, taking over marketing at Brightcove. Jeff is very talented, and I’m psyched he’s taking the marketing helm.
Now, I’m ready for something new.
i started my career in the environmental movement and then spent the last 13 years building technology companies and bringing ground-breaking new products to market. Now I’m planning to combine these two passions to build new companies in green technology, clean energy and sustainable development. In this work, I’m definitely at the beginning and looking forward to a steep learning curve.
I’m also going to do more writing, travel and consulting. Hopefully, this should give me more time to blog (lots more to say about new media and online video) and to tackle other writing projects that have been on the back burner. I’m already planning trips to London, Egypt, San Francisco, China and Turkey (suggestions, referrals, etc. are always welcome). Finally, I’ve started doing some strategic management and business consulting with a few selected management teams at start-ups and early stage companies.
The last change is minor, I decided to rename this blog “Blended Thought” and put it at a vanity URL (blog.adamberrey.com). After thinking about it too much, I decided the blog name wasn’t that important.
Anyway, keep your eyes open for more posts on online video, media, marketing and business.
